History of „Piper`s Ballroom in short:
The Ballroom became opened in December 1985 by Mr. Julius Pfeiffer and his longtime companion.
A ballroom especially for Rock`n Roll
The opening gone ahead was the adaption of a former work-hall, that required several months of hard work and effort. The idea was to open a ballroom especially for Rock`n Roll and Post-war kind of music (until the end of the early sixties), that had a huge dance floor, a Bar, and a lot of space for the guests.
Success
That kind of Ballroom did not exist at this time in Vienna. Mostly of the discotheques played hit parade music. As the original Rock`n Roll music always has his supporters and fans and as this kind of music is well dancable, the Ballroom was immediately successful.
Through passing on of the message at interested people the number of guest grew and grew, because the ballroom was unique in its kind. There were again and again special events.
End of a successfull period
After years of non-stopping success Mr Pfeiffer sold the Ballroom for personal reasons and turned to other activities.
Unfortunately, this was the beginning of the end of a successfull period. The post-owners fell out, the ballroom changed several times and lost itīs musical roots, just the name remained from glorious times. Finally, it was a HipHop/Underground pub (official), then had to close on official order. It was still led as Asian culture-club (but no more than a ballroom) after it.
Comeback
Since Mr. Pfeiffer still kept in touch to former guests and with melancholy decline of his work pursued, only from curiosity he looked at his former pub again. On the basics of the desolate condition, he doesn't really have any big interest for the moment, but at least in 2006 he decided by support from friends to start a "comeback."
Reopening 2007
Again, tough months of renovation and redevelopment passed by, but at 2007-03-30 , the big moment was gained. The "Piper's Ballroom reopened, exactly in the old (new) dress like in 1985, in order to reach the goals again without compromises.
The opening was a full success, former visitors and guest appeared, as if it never was paused, new visitors came and come continuously. Everybody welcomes the re-opening with big words. New advertising-media become running for the further spread and proclamation for this distinctive ballroom.
The situation reminds to the big heroes of Rock'n Roll. Elvis, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bill Haley and many others please still today on the basics of their inimitable style - and the "Piper's Ballroom“ does as well.
